Sound Of Stereo has been a mixed bag for me as of late. I definitely remember Zipper being the shit back in the day, and later on Flatland, but with their last EP Mineral I was beginning to wonder if they’d gone for a more minimal and dark techno sound. And then along came Volt. Volt has a certain nostalgia about it that takes me instantly back to 2008, when I was listening heavily to Boys Noize’s Oi Oi Oi. I always have and always will treasure tracks like this very dearly. The second they invent time machines I know exactly when I’m going.

It’s safe to say Bingo Players are one of my favorite artists right now. Consistently putting out quality track after track. L’Amour brings with it a hard hitting synth that will practically knock you down if you know how to turn your volume up to 11. Sadly it’s not as catchy as their last release, Mode, but I still can’t wait to hear some of the amazing remixes that result from a track like this.

Been sleeping on the disco lately so here’s one for you. Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries‘ debut collab, Don’t Look Back, is being released with a full remix package and a pretty slick music video shot too boot. This is a perfect summer cruising song if I’d ever heard one and to top it off Tommie Sunshine provides the vocals himself! I have the honor of premiering said slick music video which you can feast your eyes upon below. Bonus internet points for spotting both Tommie and Disco Fries a few times in there.

I’ve been getting this question a bit recently in some emails so I decided to address it on Twitter this morning and also here. The question was simply why I’m behind other music blogs in posting tracks. Now, to understand this question fully you have to look at what exactly posting tracks means to people. To me, it means posting the full track when it gets released so you, the listener, are able to decided whether or not you’d like to buy it. For a lot of other music blogs it means posting the “preview” of the track usually a few weeks before the release.

This “preview” business just seems bullshit to me and I feel like it actually hurts sales. From my personal experience I see and hear tons of previews every week for tracks that won’t be released until weeks from now. And you know what most blogs do? They blog the preview and not the actual release. What good does that do the artist except hype the track? Sure hype is good some times, but if you miss the release and forgot like I have many times in the past it becomes a bit irritating.

That’s why you’ll almost never find previews on Chemical Jump. With a few rare exceptions (like the Kavinsky video I posted, I’ll obviously post about it again once the LP is released)

The game has changed, but the players are the same. Good to have Kavinsky back.

When Kaskade dropped his Fire and Ice album not too long ago one of my favorite tracks was Room For Happiness simple for the fact that it had Skylar Grey in it. If you’ve heard the Dirty South remix of Coming Home a million times like I have you’d be hooked too. She can’t touch Katy B yet in my book, but if she starts to do more electro type songs she’ll be a huge contenter. Anyway, the remixes for Kaskade’s third single Room For Happiness were just released and of course I was happy to see Gregori Klosman on official remix duty with the perfect about of pitch bending synth and vocals.
