It’s pretty safe to say I’ve been waiting for this remix for a long time. Okay, maybe it’s only been a little over a month, but in internet blogger time that’s forever. Cazzette first premiered the remix back on a guestmix they did for Avicii’s Le7els podcast in December and ever since then I’ve been dying to get my hands on it. I really wish there were more tracks that included both electro house and dubstep in one song so seamlessly like this. Of course you could always mix it like that yourself, but where’s the fun in that?.. I kid.

I’m a bit bummed I missed Moguai when he came through my city on tour last year, but I’ll always have his music to listen to and he pulled out a great one for his first track of 2012. It’s an interesting and rather good cross between progressive and electro house that I don’t think many people have touched on. The LP of the same name is set to drop on the 30th so be sure to keep an ear to the ground for that.

I’m always on the lookout for popular songs that go through a good electro remix treatment because you know, playing Daft Punk can only get you so far with crowd recognition. Thankfully I got an email from Gigi Barocco the other day with this gem of a bootleg. Interestingly enough I already had a Bad Touch remix in my library that I completely forgot about, so I figured I’d do a little comparison. Turns out, there is no comparison. I wouldn’t even think of playing the one I had over Gigi’s. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to watch X-Files.

The Bad Touch (Gigi Barocco Bootleg) (320 kbps)

Pretty sure you all know I have a not so secret obsession with NT89. And even Burns for that matter. The song they did together starts off in your typical NT89 techno fashion and you almost think it’ll carry on that way the rest of the track, but once it hits that first drop so does your jaw. The release also features an outstanding remix by autoKratz which is the best thing since toaster ovens and one by Attaque which reminds me a bit of Gesaffelstein.

Pick it up on beatport and slay some dancefloors.

I feel like I loved Prutataaa way too much back in mid 2011. It had the perfect balance of dutch house from Afrojack and electro house from R3hab that it just made sense to play it all the time for lovers of both genres. Now what happens when you let Dada Life get their hands on it? It becomes a straight electro bomb, in a good way. They kept the same build up and of course a few of those signature Woo’s from the original, but once it drops you get that old thick and heavy Dada Life sound.

I honestly wasn’t a fan of Zedd‘s last track Stars Come Out. Listening to so many lyrics in a Zedd track just doesn’t feel right to me, which is why I am a fan of his newest track Slam The Door. No lyrics and my favorite part of the track? The excellent choice to use a sample from the Winnebago Man. Classic.

P.s. While I may not like Skrillex, I will admit his label, OWSLA, is kicking some serious ass with releases. Quickly becoming one of my favorite labels.

I know one of the things I always look forward to at the end of the year is the mix that Laidback Luke puts out. It generally encompasses the whole year of releases, but obviously it’ll be more heavy on tracks just recently released. He’s also done a mix for Mixmash which includes every single they’ve released this year. Pretty tough task, but Luke manages to pull out both mixes in spectacular fashion.
