Wolfgang Gartner – Redline Posted by Nate in: Electronic, House

As I’m sure many of you have heard by now Wolfgang Gartner won’t be releasing a full follow up album to Weekend In America. He’s instead decided to release a new single each month for the rest of the year which I think is an excellent idea. Singles and EP’s get your name on everyone’s mind more often than one album would. Anyway, the latest to be released is called Redline. Whereas There And Back was more electro based, Redline has a strong progressive house feel to it. I also didn’t find it nearly as repetitive as There And Back, maybe I just like it more, but there’s obviously still a bit of dullness once you get about half way through the track.

That Laughing Track (Sound Of Stereo Remix) Posted by Nate in: Electronic

That Laughing Track was one of my favorites off Crookers‘ Dr. Gonzo album right behind the title title track. It just got the official remix treatment by Sound Of Stereo, TWR72, Sona Vabos, and Milano. I can’t say I like all the remixes on the EP. TWR72′s was good, but for some reason I’m not liking it as much as their previous work. And the Sona Vabos and Milano remixes were just not my style. So Sound Of Stereo’s turned out to be my favorite, even though I wish they’d added some laughing after the drop (edit time!).

Crookers also just released the official video for That Laughing Track… And it’s weird as hell. Be sure to take a bit lot of LSD before watching it or you probably won’t get it.

Ado – Home Posted by Nate in: Electronic

Oh Ado, you slay me. I keep saying this, but I’ve still yet to hear a track from him I don’t like. He just gave this one away for free yesterday that has an amazingly good techno feel to it. His next release is on Twin Turbo (Turbo Records sub-label) and will feature 4 new tracks sure to blow my mind and yours. Look out for it coming soon.

Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries Exclusives Posted by Nate in: Electronic

If you all remember a while back I premiered the video for Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries‘ track Don’t Look Back. At the time they had promised me an exclusive bootleg soon after, but as things often turn out in the music world it took a little longer than expected. The wait was worth it however, since Tommie also sent along a great edit of the track Kaskade and Skrillex did called Lick It. It gives the track a lot more playability since the original track only had about a 20 second lead up to the first drop and the added touch of a bit more house vs dubstep is a welcome change. The Don’t Look Back bootleg is mashed up with Joe Garston’s Promise which works surprisingly well together. Big ups to Tommie and Disco Fries for suppling the morning soundtrack on my walk to work.

The M Machine – Metropolis Pt. I Posted by Nate in: Electronic

After a little hiatus in Vegas to see Justice (yes, it was awesome as usual) I’m back to bring you the good news tunes. The M Machine is finally back with some new music! They just released the first part of their album yesterday with 6 tracks that have a very broad range. A King Alone has a very deep and smooth feel as opposed to Immigrants which has a much harder club feel to it. Show Me A Rose Garden, which you might remember is something of a sequel to Promise Me A Rose Garden, takes a much slower approach at 85 bpm and has some synths lines that I’d rate up there with Wolfgang Gartner.

Somebody That I Used To Know (Dumme Jungs Remix) Posted by Nate in: Electronic

Yes, besides Levels this year, Somebody That I Used To Know has been somewhat over remixed. Thankfully out of the muck and mire has emerged an extraordinary remix by Dumme Jungs which has already become my new favorite. I used to not like a lot of lyrics in tracks, obviously that’s changed since I absolutely love this remix. It’s the perfect blend of lyrics in the beginning then goes harder than a fat kid at McDonalds. You won’t be disappointed by it.

And if you’ve been hiding under a rock for a while, go check out the Chemical Jump Guest Mix they did a while back.

Breakbot – Programme Posted by Nate in: Electronic, House

Starting off a gorgeous week with a gorgeous tune. Ed Banger has kindly given away a free track off Breakbot‘s upcoming album, By Your Side. It reminds me a lot of the sound Justice just used with Audio Video Disco, but obviously has a very strong and always unmistakable Breakbot funk and vibe. I don’t know about you guys, but 14 Breakbot tracks being dropped on me at once is something of a dream. September is just too far away.

The Night Out (A-Trak Remix) Posted by Nate in: Electronic

This track was previewed like crazy just a couple months ago and it was finally release yesterday on iTunes. If it’s one thing A-Trak is good at it’s incorporating a lot of the original melody in his remixes, which is nice because people that know the original will get more into it until the drop when their minds get simultaneously blown apart. No doubt that talent comes from his many years of being a turntablist. I really think it’s one of the best remixes A-Trak has ever done beating out Heads Will Roll and Indestructible. I even really enjoyed his Stronger remixes, but this is definitely something special.
