I’m not really qualified to speak at lengths about dubstep, so I usually stick to electro and leave the dub to the experts. This new/old (he’s been playing it for few months) track from High Rankin really doesn’t need much in the way of introduction. If you’re familiar with his previous work you’ll feel right at home.

I really can’t think of a better way to welcome in the new year than have another guest mix, can you? M.E.G.A. from Steed Lord has been a pretty big supporter of Chemical Jump for a while now so I’m super excited and honored for him to have done this guest mix. He’s currently finishing up a (purple drank) remix for the Crookers of Steed Lord’s joint track Transilvania and if it’s anything like the previous remixes, you should start getting excited yesterday. First week of 2010 wasn’t too bad. Lots of stuff from Ed Banger off their xmas promo and Danger making a big push with remixes before his EP is release. In other news I wanted to say that Mailbag Monday will be returning next week due to popular demand. Simian Mobile Disco just finished up the first Essential Mix of 2010 on Radio 1 a few hours ago. It’s a pretty diverse mix with some minimal, dubstep and electro thrown in here and there to keep things moving. They mention before the mix that for them, 2010 will be a year of “no vocalists at all” and that they’ll be sticking to strictly instrumental, unpleasant techno. It should be interesting to hear what they come up with.

Danger is finally all set to release his third EP later this month. Most of you know I occasionally rant about artists changing their style and of course the one time they don’t I almost wish they had. That’s how I felt when I heard the teaser for Danger’s new song 4h30 a few days ago. It’s really feels like the same stuff he’s done in the past, but a bit more 8-bit and Dangery (yes, I’m coining that word to refer to all songs that sound like Danger). Anyway, the song in the teaser video that was released last night really brought my hopes up that the whole thing won’t be completely same. The EP drops January 25th on vinyl and February 1st on digital download.

The next mix in the Mishka Keep Watch mix series has finally landed. If you remember the previous mixes have feature artists such as Jack Beats, Major Lazer, and Congorock to name a few. This time the Crookers have taken hold and unleashed their own, unique Keep Watch mix. It’s not loaded with bangers, but rather leans more with the style the Crookers have been setting recently leading up to the release of their album.

This last one was sent to me earlier in the week. I was about to write it off as yet another average Warp remix until I realized it wasn’t Steve Aoki screaming at me. The Princess Sisters went and added in some original vocals that they recorded. Put that together with a great remix that doesn’t even sound like the original (the main hook isn’t heard once) and you have a winner.
