It sure would have been nice to have this Essential Mix top off a Netherlands win in the World Cup yesterday, but alas it was not meant to be. Regardless, Afrojack‘s essential mix is an extremely good listen, especially if you’re into Dutch House. The only thing I didn’t like about it is the ridiculous amount of his own tracks. And when I say ridiculous, I mean 14 out of the 21 tracks identified so far are his. Don’t call me a hater, because I love the mix, I just think a bit more variety would have been nice for an Essential Mix. Oh, and the first track he drops is Barbara Streisand!

I THOUGHT ESSENTIALS DID ALL SOUND THE SAME (SAM) DONT EXPECT DIFFERENT GENRES IN ONE ESSENTIAL
Nate July 12, 2010 at 8:18 pm
@VAN DER WIEL
I didn’t expect this essential mix to be more than one genre, but having more than half the tracks by one artist is a bit stupid for an essential mix.

Deadmau5 only used his own songs in his essential mix. But that mix really owned the shit out of everything.

AFROJACK KILLED THIS ESSENTIAL MIX!! everyone hating can shit in their own hands!! AFROJACK is taking over the game!!
Petedoooodz July 24, 2010 at 4:41 am
I heard a whole lot of low-EQ-cut Etienne De Crecy – Hope (Djedjotronic Remix) after Bangduck.
I’m so terribly confused.

I don’t get why you hate AFROJACK’S Essential Mix because he played lots of AFROJACK’S music… I LOVE DJs that play their own stuff, I came to see/download their mixes and tracks to hear them, and their style. Not everyone else’s.

Matt July 30, 2010 at 6:34 pm
What is the name of the Memories Remix he plays? and where can i get it???
jonas August 3, 2010 at 12:42 pm
an essential mix should be a mix with the best songs of a genre ,
but he uses allmost only his own music… So he must think he the best or something …. well he’s a good producer , but surely not he best…
GOTIFOO September 19, 2010 at 2:46 am

for anyone hating afrojack, it’s clear you’ve never seen him live. i’ve seen once at ultra music fest 2010 and again at mansion in miami doing a dual set w steve aoki and he killed it both times. seeing him again tonight back at mansion. so stoked. watch where he’s at in a year.
Seth January 24, 2011 at 1:40 pm
dirty mix I don’t care if he’s spinning it live, didn’t come up with the tracks, has illegitimate children… dirty. I wish there were people making music like this in the States……. or at least touring here.
RahRah February 17, 2011 at 12:11 pm
Sickness…i dunno why i dint look this up earlier. I saw him live at UMF 2010 and gonna go to Miami this yr for his beatport party!
All the haterz need to realize EDM is going to this style… Afrojack and Chuckie have officially changed the game.
There is a reason why he won a Grammy this yr!
