Martin Solveig laid down a huge essential mix last night on Radio One. In the little intro he explains that since the mix is at the beginning of the summer, it’s full of tracks that all the DJ’s will be hammering out over the next few months. And looking at the tracklist I’d definitely have to agree with that. Great ready for hit after perfectly mixed hit.

WHY ARE DJ’S STILL DROPPING PON DE FLOOR?!!?!?
derpstep July 20, 2011 at 6:06 am
Exactly why are horrid tracks popular, because they make fools without backbones dance all stupid like. How dare anyone compare Daft Punk to anything, how they hell are they in a similar situation due to the fact they have been around for awhile. Major shit lazer did one song that got blasted everywhere like that sexy chic song and g6. It goes away lets look forward to that.
GBallz July 20, 2011 at 11:55 am
Actually, this wasn’t strictly Pon De Floor, it was a mashup with Kelis’ “Milkshakes” and I think it was pretty cool, something I haven’t heard before. If DJs find a new mashup or version of a song I’m all for them bringing it back to life, even though I love PDF and am happy to hear it in any set.
Adam Vac July 16, 2011 at 12:50 pm
Why do people still play Daft Punk?
Its still a good song regardless of its age, same with any song
Control+Alt+Delight July 16, 2011 at 1:57 pm

NORO July 16, 2011 at 9:37 pm
Great mix, but I don’t listen to mixes for to hear songs that I’m going to hear everywhere, or that I already have. It’s like playing the top40 of electronic music.
drew July 16, 2011 at 9:46 pm
what I can’t seem to understand is how Skrillex not only ends up on EVERY festival lineup, but also now appears in everyone’s Essential Mix/ live set. even the house DJ’s are playing that shit, what gives!!
Eanan July 16, 2011 at 10:11 pm
Its so mainstream, not a great mix in my opinion, heard a lot of the tracks already, and nothing really stood out to me. Soz
A July 17, 2011 at 4:04 am
Reckon this is probably better for sticking on at a party or something rather than listening to alone, gets a bit boring when you recognise every track but if it’s playing out to a room full of drunk people who just want to dance and sing along: perfect
Armando Zamora July 17, 2011 at 7:37 pm
So what if its mainstream music?! Just because a song is so popular its not worthy of listening to? So if a track is so popular its not cool anymore?
Slatta July 17, 2011 at 8:51 pm

Slatta July 17, 2011 at 8:53 pm

Half you guys saying ,,, “heard this all before”" yadda yadda yadda… obviously dont know the purpose of an essential mix..
yea July 18, 2011 at 1:17 am
the purpose of an essential mix is to jam in as much skrillex, deadmau5, and as many hello mixes as physically possible
