I usually don’t comment on tracks in IJLTH posts, but this one warrants it. Because while the drop half way through Future Funk is pretty huge and original, Tommy Trash uses the same exact synth as he did in The End for the break down parts. Sure it may work well mixing together and a lot of people will probably think it’s the same track, but if you’re making something completely new and marketing it as such, you shouldn’t blatantly use old elements from past tracks. Especially from one you just released. I really hate to rant on the track like that, especially one that I like, but I just hate it when I see lazy production like this. I really enjoy the track, but every time that synth comes on a little large part of me dies inside.

I like your honesty about “lazy” production. Maybe more artists will try to keep things fresh instead of just sampling everyone elses sounds, rearranging them and calling it their own.

don’t hesitate to make production comments like that. you’re a qualified listener, and that sort of laziness is part of what gives modern dance music a bad name in certain circles.

Lazy? Like when “DJ’s” use empty CDJ1000′s to control a Macbook instead of records? Thought so. :-) I think we’re all guilty of laze here and there.

Lazy in that sense would be Making a pre-recorded mashup.
