Ready To Go Posted by: Cliff in Electronic, Giveaways, House

Heard the expression All Swedish and no finish?  If you haven’t before, now you have.  Tell your friends.  Example usage:  You’re just lampin’ down at your local speakeasy and your friend lamely lays his spiel out for some poor girl whose night is now lost trying simply not to be a total dick about telling him to take a breather.  Okay, maybe this isn’t the exact reaction he gets, but at any rate, he spends all night trying to woo her and then comes closing time and she’s on her way home Han style.  Solo. Your boy is all Swedish and no finish.  Don’t you just love slang?  All this to say that Jay Lamar & Jesse Oliver are all sweetish and plenty Finnish.  And they got this new EP for ya, Ready to Go, with a remix from A.N.D.Y. & Vicente.  I like it.  A lot.  My mind goes to GRUM’s remix of Goldfrapp’s Rocket.  (But just knowing that there is a new GRUM album out there somewhere right now makes my mind go there as a response to just about anything).  They all belong to the same ilk.  I’ll maybe describe it as melodic house?  I guess that’s as vague as any other genre title.  It doesn’t make you want to fight or fuck.  It just makes you want to make a video montage with you and your friends in neon colors, rack focuses on smiles backlit by a sunset over the ocean, before you grab your Chivers jacket and hit the town.  (If you can tell me what that’s in reference to, I’ll, well, think you’re cool.  And maybe we can work out something like a prize.  Who knows.)  Okay, Jesus.  How did you let me just keep yammering for so long?  Listen to the songs already.  Go on.

Lollapops. Posted by: Cliff in Acid, Charts, Disco, Dubstep, Electronic, Fucksongs, Giveaways, Guest Mixes, Hip Hop, House, I'll Just Leave This Here, Interviews, Late Bloomers, Mailbag Monday, Mega Post, Mixes, Other, Remix Monday, Rock, Techno, Uncategorized, Video

Funny thing is, none of these people are playing Lolla.  But I’m in Chicago and going and it’s what’s on my mind.  I told you there would be more Aylen to come, so there’s that, new and old.  Also new BeatauCue and likely the only Skrillex track I will ever post.  Proust!

Xristo – My First Kiss (Aylen Remix)

I can’t believe I’m posting a track by someone whose self-appointed moniker is :D Face.  What a schmuck.  This remix slays though and despite it being a — buzz word — Banger, I am into it.  Aylen has some fucking dope sounds.  It’s an old one (meaning two months old, which is like a lifetime, I know) but fuck it—

:D Face – Mad Man (Aylen Remix)

The Others – The Way You Make Me (BeatauCue Remix)

Skrillex feat. Sirah – Bangarang (MSystem Remix)

If you’re gonna be at Lolla, come say what’s up.  Well, you’d have to know what I look like, but this could be the time for you to come to me with your praises, complaints, criticisms, presents— I’ll happily accept something from the fermented sugar department.  Or you could just comment on here and we can set up some sort of meeting.  I’ll be the one wearing the purple dahlia in my boutonnière.

Gigamesh Ticket Giveaway!!! Posted by: Cliff in Disco, Electronic, Giveaways, House

Gigamesh has a new EP.  It’s called All My Life.   It’s good.  Let’s face it, Gigamesh is always good (Disco-Tech too). He’s taking his act on the road through parts of the U.S. of A. and you could see him!!  (How do you advertise a giveaway without an echo effect and laser sounds and that deep radio-announcer’s voice?  Just imagine it, okay?)  RRRRRRiiiight now , by simply commenting on this post with thoughts on how terrific the new EP is and/or other comments you have regarding Gigamesh i.e. favorite tracks, delightful anecdotes from when you saw him last and got like, ssooo hammered, bro, dirty secrets you’re somehow privy to, etc.  you could win two tickets to a show nearest you.  If you live in Florida— sorry.  You’ll get ‘em next time.  Or maybe you’re just that dedicated of a fan and you’re willing to make the trip to catch one of these dates.  Winner will be announced soon.  Break a leg!

Here are a couple tracks off the new EP.  These are my favorites.  You can cop the whole thing on Beatport now style.

Chemical Jump Mini-Mix Competition! Posted by: Nate in Electronic, Giveaways

I haven’t had a good competition around here in a while and now that I’ve got the new t-shirts in I figured it was time for one! Instead of doing a remix comp or something similar I’ve decided to go back to the basics and focus on one thing I think every artist should do at least once, a mini-mix. Mini-mixes are, essentially, cramming as many tracks as you can (without sounding like total crap) into 5 minutes. Pretty simple, right? Well it gets even better.

My friends over at JLab Audio have graciously agreed to sponsor the competition! So in addition to an awesome Chemical Jump t-shirt if you win, you’ll also receive the latest and greatest audio gear from JLabs!

How it’ll work:
From now until November 19th you can send your mix into this SoundCloud group. Do not email me your entry or put it in my SoundCloud dropbox. Only entries in the group will count.

Enter Here!

On the 20th I’ll go through the entries and pick my 3 favorites.

From there, I’ll make a post with the top 3 and you guys will vote on the winner.

The Prizes:
First Place: Brand new JLab J6 Headphones + a new Chemical Jump t-shirt of your choice
Second Place: A Chemical Jump t-shirt

Plus, all the winning mixes will be posted here!

The Rules:
1. The mix must be 5 minutes to 5:30 in length.
2. The mix must contain at least 15 individual tracks, and I encourage you to use as many as possible!
3. Since Chemical Jump is always about sharing, you must include a tracklist. (if you don’t want anyone else to jack your awesome transition ideas, just upload your mix slightly before the deadline)
4. You can record it live or pre-arrange in your favorite software as long as you abide by the rules above.
5. Entry deadline is November 19th at 11:59 EST. Anything submitted after that will not count.

Got it? Good. If you have any questions about the competition just leave them in a comment here and I’ll answer them.

Edit: For those that think 15 songs in 5 minutes is too much… Just look at NASA’s 5 minute mini-mix with 57 songs. The mix is probably one of the most creative things I’ve ever heard. And that’s what I want you all to be, creative as hell! Anyone can throw together a simple mix of songs, but to do it in 5 minutes takes real planning and foresight. Something that sets apart the kids from the grownups.
