It was super hard choosing a winner for the first Remix Monday. In all I received 31 remixes which all had very unique character. I’d like to thank everyone who entered over the past two weeks. I really didn’t think this would be a big a hit as it’s been, but I’m glad it’s had a strong start.

So without further ado, taking the crown in the first Remix Monday is PatrickAwesome! Out of all the remixes, this one is my favorite in terms of what he did with the vocals.

Still trying to wrap my head around last nights streaming of Ultra fest. Whoever was in charge of it had some strange love affair with Digweed and bad trance music. After they got their act together and finally switched to The Bloody Beetroots I got my first real impression of Death Crew 77. Bob ran around a bunch screaming and playing everything his hands touched, Tommy did an awful lot of clapping when he wasn’t mixing songs together, and Edward just killed the drums like nobody’s business. All in all it was a fantastic performance, but I still enjoy their DJ sets over the live band style. Kudos for trying something new though.

Thought I’d share this Barletta live set that I’ve been listening to on this lazy Sunday afternoon. It’s actually the first time I’ve ever heard a live set of his (there is a 2008 set out, but I haven’t grabbed it yet). The good news is that its everything you’d expect from a live set and more. The bad news is you won’t wanna stop listening to it, or is that also good news? Definitely brace yourself while listening. I’m really beginning to think that my iTunes library has a mind of its own. Yesterday, as I was trying to figure who I wanted to ask to do the next guest mix and the very next song iTunes started playing was Barletta‘s latest track Drop Out. I took that as a sign, asked Barletta if he’d like to do a mix, and 24 hours later here we are. Regardless of how it came about, Barletta is one of my favorite artists to watch out for new remixes and edits. He could probably turn just about any slow jam into a dance floor banger over night with a simple edit. Be on the lookout for some new stuff from him and enjoy the mix!
