Bust Em Up (Na Ciphra) (Fatboy Slim Re-Edit) Posted by Nate in: Electronic

How is it possible to make Bust ‘Em Up even better you ask? Well, put out a few remixes of it and have one be a Fatboy Slim edit. Strangely I’m not in love with any of the other official remixes here. I feel like some of the unofficial ones are a bit more hard hitting. Of course I’m sure that’s not what they were going for here, just a personal preference of mine.

Crookers – Dr. Gonzo Anthem Posted by Nate in: Electronic

I’m still not exactly sure where the Crookers are going with this whole Dr. Gonzo thing. It seems like an alias they’re producing under, yet they’ve said it’s not. It could be the name of their next album which I’ve heard is underway. All I know is that I like this sound, a lot. I know people started to lose a bit of faith in the Crookers after their album dropped. It was a radically different sound that Phra refered in the interview I had with him as:

“Not a 12 club tracks album…or a 12 Day N Night rmx album, it’s more what we like to listen to in our car when we are going to the airport”

This Dr. Gonzo project is much more of a step back to their original sound. Not quite club, not quite a Day N Night remix album, and not quite airport music, but definitely something good. They’ve also collaborated with two other artists once again for this EP. Lazy Ants & His Majesty Andre join them for Carcola. I think it’s about time for a whole new love affair with the Crookers to begin!

p.s. Please listen to this track on some good speakers/headphones. The perfectly clean cut bass just doesn’t come through on laptop speakers.

1. Dushi
2. Dr. Gonzo Anthem
3. Carcola (feat Lazy Ants & His Majesty Andre)

Crookers Present: Dr. Gonzo Posted by Nate in: Electronic

I’ve been anxiously awaiting this new Crookers to drop for some time now. You’d almost think these were original Crookers tracks from back in the day with the way they sound, but it’s actually a collaboration with Savage Skulls, Neoteric, and Wax Motif. They’ve said that Dr. Gonzo isn’t the name of their new alias, just the title of a project/album(!) they’re working on, so I’m assuming any more tracks will also be collaborations of some kind. I can tell you one thing right now, if they make an album full of tracks like Bust ‘em Up I would play it for a week straight.

Cooler Couleur (AC Slater Remix) Posted by Nate in: Electronic

I don’t know about you guys, but I almost forgot about AC Slater‘s massive remix of Cooler Couleur. It’s been almost 3 months since the always infamous words that it would be “out soon” were given. I still think the Junkie XL remix is king of the hill, but AC’s remix does bring more club appeal to it. What do you guys think?

My New Religion Posted by Nate in: Electronic

Another artist that hadn’t really popped up on my radar until recently is the LA duo known as Religion. I had a few of their previous remixes, but it wasn’t until I heard the remix they did for Steed Lord (which I immediately charted) that I went and downloaded every remix I could find. The two most recent remixes are without a doubt some of the best in their repertoire. I’m loving how much harder and energetic they made Avalanche.
