I’ll Just Leave This Here #45 Posted by Nate in: Electronic, House, I'll Just Leave This Here

First week of 2010 wasn’t too bad. Lots of stuff from Ed Banger off their xmas promo and Danger making a big push with remixes before his EP is release. In other news I wanted to say that Mailbag Monday will be returning next week due to popular demand. Previously I’d been able to post everything I was sent, but this time around I’ll be picking out what I like best since I can’t post everything. If you’ve sent me something in the past month, just hit me up with a note telling me you’d like it in Mailbag Monday and I’ll go over it.

Keep Watch Mix Vol. XV: Crookers Posted by Nate in: Electronic

The next mix in the Mishka Keep Watch mix series has finally landed. If you remember the previous mixes have feature artists such as Jack Beats, Major Lazer, and Congorock to name a few. This time the Crookers have taken hold and unleashed their own, unique Keep Watch mix. It’s not loaded with bangers, but rather leans more with the style the Crookers have been setting recently leading up to the release of their album.

Crookers – Keep Watch Vol. XV (320 kbps)

Crookers Interview Posted by Nate in: Interviews

I figured it was about time I started doing some interviews on the site, so for the first one I went big and got Phra from the Crookers to answer a few of my questions.

CJ: Your upcoming album, Tons of Friends, is a different style from most of your previous works, what can we expect from it?

Phra: Yes, it’s not a 12 club tracks album…or a 12 Day N Night rmx album, it’s more what we like to listen to in our car when we are going to the airport… So actually it’s airport music to listen to on an iPod near the security control and when you’re waiting at the gate. Don’t expect nothin from this album if you don’t have to go to the airport!

CJ: Was it different for you sitting down and nailing out a whole album and not just another EP?

Phra: No differences, we worked the album about 2 years in free time between rmxs and gigs so it was kinda a way to work on something different in between..make sense?

CJ: Have there been any songs that you heard and instantly knew you wanted to do a remix of?

Phra: Sometimes…but if I really like a song it’s actually difficult for me / or Bot to rmx it! We don’t want to touch the magic of the original.

CJ: Any current obsessions, music or otherwise?

Phra: Toys

CJ: Who’s your favorite new artist on the scene right now?

Phra: Hudson Mohawke is incredible!

CJ: Lastly, I know you love animals, but what animal would you be?

Phra: My dog will reply on this : bau bau—-grrrr—bau bau bauuu

Crookers ft. Kelis – No Security (320 kbps)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Crookers ft Soulwax & Mixhell – We Love Animals (320 kbps)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Big thanks to Phra for the interview! Be sure to keep a lookout in January for the next free track from the album: Crookers feat. Steed Lord – Transilvania.

My Favorites of 2009 Posted by Nate in: Dubstep, Electronic, House

So here’s my favorites of 2009 post. Not necessarily the best tracks released this year, but they’re among the most played for me. I’m not gonna comment on each one since I’ve probably already done it on the blog before. I will say that it’s been an absolutely crazy year as far as electronic music goes. 2008 couldn’t touch 2009 and I’m sure the same will be said next year. After all, we have the new Daft Punk album to look forward to!

Read on after the jump to check it all out.
