Prutataaa (Dada Life Remix) Posted by Nate in: Electronic

I feel like I loved Prutataaa way too much back in mid 2011. It had the perfect balance of dutch house from Afrojack and electro house from R3hab that it just made sense to play it all the time for lovers of both genres. Now what happens when you let Dada Life get their hands on it? It becomes a straight electro bomb, in a good way. They kept the same build up and of course a few of those signature Woo’s from the original, but once it drops you get that old thick and heavy Dada Life sound.

Dada Life – Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker Posted by Nate in: Electronic

When asked about who my favorite artist is it’s nearly impossible for me to pick just one. Then I really think about it and one of the names that always comes to mind is Dada Life. And one of the reasons that’s so is because of their production. Not just because it’s good as all hell, but because they have what amounts to one of the best production schedules around. Going by my iTunes library, we haven’t been without new a Dada Life original or remix for more than a month this entire year (not even including their monthly podcast). I’ve talked about it before, but when an artist gets big they usually slow down their remix and production work to focus on touring and doing shows. Dada Life, seems to do the exact opposite.

The new track itself is a pretty straight forward synth that sounds like a massive horn calling the raver nation to come out and party. I almost wonder if they weren’t influenced a bit by Congorock’s Ivory with the sound we see them going for.

Kaskade & Dada Life feat. Dan Black – Ice Posted by Nate in: Electronic

America’s #1 DJ, as voted by people who probably don’t get out much, just released his latest album today. In all fairness Kaskade‘s album is actually a pretty interesting listen. Instead of being a normal album, it’s been turned into a special two CD release. Disc 1 is called Fire with every track featuring a collaboration with a artists (seems like a lot of people are doing more collabs on albums these days) and disc 2, Ice, contains all the songs from Fire, though remixed by Kaskade. It offers a nice balance between the original tracks, but I’m kinda left feeling like I had an overdose of Kaskade and need an intracardiac injection of epinephrine to keep me alive.

One of the better tracks on the album is a collaboration with Dada Life. You can tell straight up that the base was more than likely done by Dada Life and vocals were handled by Kaskade. Thankfully they go together almost seamlessly and it’s worlds away from the vocals on Fight Club Is Closed.

I usually don’t comment on tracks in IJLTH posts, but this one warrants it. Because while the drop half way through Future Funk is pretty huge and original, Tommy Trash uses the same exact synth as he did in The End for the break down parts. Sure it may work well mixing together and a lot of people will probably think it’s the same track, but if you’re making something completely new and marketing it as such, you shouldn’t blatantly use old elements from past tracks. Especially from one you just released. I really hate to rant on the track like that, especially one that I like, but I just hate it when I see lazy production like this. I really enjoy the track, but every time that synth comes on a little large part of me dies inside.
