I actually have a lot to say this week! but I’ll try and keep it short. I received an email about last week’s I’ll Just Leave This Here picture as being as “sexy” as it normally is. To clear the air, I wanna say that the purpose of these pictures for me has never been to showcase hot girls. I Originally I inherited the idea from a French blog that was around way before I was called Boule à Facettes. Sadly they aren’t around anymore, but they occasionally posted a picture of an attractive girl with some music and it some how drew me in. Others have clearly copied this style and for obvious reasons, though for me it’s never been about what you CAN see in a picture, but more about what you CAN’T see, and I feel it’s similar with music. Some times you’ll hear a song and be confronted with its immediate presents, yet after a few listens you start to feel a deeper meaning to the song. You discover patterns and hear beats that you’ve never heard before. Anyway, that’s the purpose of the pictures for me. If you just like seeing hot girls, that’s okay too!

Only a few days into the new year and we’re already seeing the birth of a new group. Two of the biggest disco house hitters, Ghosts Of Venice and Adulture, have joined forces to become Second City Rhythm and go on all kinds of funky musical adventures together. They started working together early last year on tour, but weren’t able to finish their collaboration due to living in different parts of the world. Until now that is, they’ve finally decided to finish what they started and release their debut EP in Spring 2011 along with a new label called Second City Records. I love both of the work these artists put out individually (they’ve both done Guest Mixes here as well), so I can’t wait to see what more they have in store for 2011.

Just a few quick updates today regarding Remix Monday. First, a few people have requested more time to complete remixes since they work on them in their off time, so from now on Remix Monday will 4 weeks instead of 2. Second, I’ve put together a new site with the help of some awesome code by Lee Martin over at SoundCloud. To upload a remix to Remix Monday in the future, simply visit remixmonday.com, login with your SoundCloud account, and upload your remix! This will allow all the remixes to be put in a single place for everyone to listen to. You’re more than welcome to upload your Leave The World Behind remixes there, but I won’t be officially requiring that until the next competition.

If you didn’t know about Ghosts Of Venice, it’s time to get educated. Ghosts Of Venice is the name used by Leeds producer Lee Dunn. Lee does disco. Lee does disco very well. When Lee isn’t doing disco, he makes up one part of the electro duo Youth Attack!. I collected up a lot of Lee’s work during disco week and after listening to each track a few dozen times I just had to ask him to do a guest mix. What he made was this absolutely funky mix. If this doesn’t get you dancing, I’m just going to assume you don’t have legs. Show him some love and thanks on Twitter after you listen to the mix!
