Light Year – Public Service Announcement (PSA) Posted by Nate in: Electronic, House

Last week I was gifted with Light Year‘s new EP Five Girls after the label saw the post I did about their Fan Out remix and since then I haven’t been able to stop playing it. I was just dying to post my favorite track, PSA, and even though the EP hasn’t been released yet, they gave me the go ahead to post the 320. I’ve spoken before that I occasionally have holes in my life that need to be filled with a certain type of music. For a while it was disco, I had a little Drum & Bass phase, then it was old school 90′s house, but Five Girls manages to fill a new hole that I didn’t even know I had and add a mound on top of that. People need to starting getting into Light Year right now or miss out on the “I knew them before they were bigger than X” bus.

Be sure to preview the rest of the EP on their SoundCloud before it drops this Friday (12/11/10: they apparently planned that date, although in America we usually write the month first, so I’d call it a half win.)

Fan Out (Light Year Remix) Posted by Nate in: House

Now that I’m finally back home I’ve had the chance to pick up a few EP’s and one of the happens to be Surkin‘s new Fan Out remix EP. After listening to it I’m happy to report you don’t need to bang your head against a wall this time, it was properly mastered! (unlike Silver Island, which nearly everyone agreed wasn’t mastered correctly) I really enjoyed the little bits that were added to the Club Mix, but the true champ here is the next level remix by Light Year. The structure of the track feels similar to the orignal, but once you get into you won’t want it to stop.

Pick up the EP now on Beatport, it’s worth it.
