If you didn’t happen to catch the background on this track, let me fill you in. For about 2 years now Etienne De Crécy has been touring and doing a live show called Beats ‘N’ Cubes. He actually preforms in a giant cube (epic!) which you can see in many videos on youtube. And as a part of this show he plays a lot of his original tracks plus two other unfinished tracks called Welcome and Hope. So after 2 long years of modifiying here and there he’s finally decided to polish up Welcome and give it a proper release. Now we find ourselves here along with this great track and a remix by The Bloody Beetroots. It’s technically more of a remix (at least that’s what Etienne De Crécy called it), but it’s listed as featuring so that’s the way I’ll leave it.

This last one was sent to me earlier in the week. I was about to write it off as yet another average Warp remix until I realized it wasn’t Steve Aoki screaming at me. The Princess Sisters went and added in some original vocals that they recorded. Put that together with a great remix that doesn’t even sound like the original (the main hook isn’t heard once) and you have a winner.

The Bloody Beetroots did a little mix for Annie Nightingale’s Radio 1 show last night. They played two remixes that I’ve never heard before as well as a new Rifoki track called Zombie Attack. I can’t wait for these remixes to drop.

So here’s my favorites of 2009 post. Not necessarily the best tracks released this year, but they’re among the most played for me. I’m not gonna comment on each one since I’ve probably already done it on the blog before. I will say that it’s been an absolutely crazy year as far as electronic music goes. 2008 couldn’t touch 2009 and I’m sure the same will be said next year. After all, we have the new Daft Punk album to look forward to!

This morning Bob posted a list of some upcoming remixes (which you can see below) that he’ll be playing at ILT and naturally I figured it would be at least a few months before any of these saw the light of day. Well imagine my delight when I saw Buzz En Direkt post one of the tracks on the list! I can’t really say this remix is “different from The Bloody Beetroots style” since this has sort of been their new style for a while. I do hear handclaps in this one though, so I could see myself getting used to it.

I’m really in utter shock at this track. After The Bloody Beetroots released their album I thought I’d never heard that same sound I grew to love when they first started out. This new track however has rekindled that old love. I have no info whatsoever on this and it’s not even the full song, but I know I like it more than just about anything Bob has done this past year.

This track dropped just this morning. It’s Bob Rifo’s (The Bloody Beetroots) remix of the Erol Alkan/Boys Noize smash hit Death Suite. I have to say I still like the original slightly better than this remix. It’s a good remix, it just seems a little too repetitive with not enough changed. I’d almost venture to call it an edit and not a remix.
